Please be informed that the Senate of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay has recently unanimously approved Adherence to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), a significant step in the development of the intellectual property system in our country.

The PCT aims to facilitate and expedite the process of obtaining patents internationally. With this adherence, Uruguay joins a network of over 150 countries committed to promoting innovation and technological development.

It is important to highlight that, although the Senate has already approved the adherence, the Executive Branch still needs to promulgate the Treaty.
